Monkey Class Information

A very warm welcome to Monkey Class. I am extremely pleased to be teaching your children for the next academic year! To ensure the transition is as smooth as possible I have tried to put as much information together as possible. However, if there is anything you are unsure of or would like to ask or discuss further please do not hesitate to contact me directly at:

Please send your child to school every day with the following:

  • Reading folder
  • Reading record
  • Reading book
  • Key words
  • PE Kit
  • Water bottle

During warm weather please ensure your child has sun cream applied and a sun hat.

During cold weather please ensure your child has a thick warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

The children will be taking part in PE every Tuesday from September, can I kindly ask that on a Tuesday all Jewellery is removed from your child, including earrings (this is for health and safety purposes). If earrings cannot be removed for any reason, please provide your child with tape to cover them. PE kits will need to be left in school throughout the week please.

The children will be able to explore the outdoors and forest on a Thursday, therefore, please send your child with appropriate outdoor and waterproof clothing and remove any jewellery.

During morning break, your child will be provided with a piece of fruit and a carton of milk free of charge.

School is open to pupils from 08:40am and registration begins at 08:50am. Please ensure your child arrives at school between 08:40 – 08:50 am. A member of staff from school will be available on the yard should you require any assistance. Children in monkey class are requested to stay on the top yard please. As we are eager to get straight on with our activities, please ensure your child arrives at school on time. Recent evidence states children who regularly arrive late to school often fall behind their peers and this can hinder their progress.

Children will be dismissed at 03:00pm. Parents may wait on the top yard for their children to be dismissed by a member of the school team.

Mungo Monkey:

Mungo Monkey is our class mascot who may want to spend some time with your children at home. This gives the children the opportunity to share their experience with Mungo with the class. Mungo will be sent home on a Friday and we kindly ask that you return him the following Friday. All information will be provided in Mungo’s diary which will be sent home with him.

Please inform the school office or myself if anyone other than parents/carers known to school will be collecting your child from school. This is to safeguard the children and to stop any confusion and inconvenience at home time when dismissing the children.

Kind regards,

Miss Greveson

Meet the Monkey Class Ambassadors

The School Council is organised by our Year 6 children who are voted to their seats by fellow pupils. They are supported by Champions of Change Amabassadors from each year group through school.

All of these students are encouraged to play a leading role in school development and all our pupils know that they can have their say in what happens in their education.
