A very warm welcome to Zebra Class. I am extremely pleased to be teaching your children for the next academic year! To ensure the transition is as smooth as possible I have tried to put as much information together as possible. However, if there is anything you are unsure of or would like to ask or discuss further please book an appointment to meet me via the school office. Nursery and Reception are parts of the Early Years Foundation Stage of Education.

In Zebra Class we thrive to provide a stimulating learning environment for each and every child and give them a wide range of opportunities with which to learn and develop as individuals.

The children’s activities are planned using the revised Early Years Foundation Stage document which is divided into prime and specific areas.

Within Zebra Class we provide a range of child centered activities on a daily basis linked to our topic. All indoor and outdoor provision is linked to the Early Years Curriculum and provides children with the opportunities to explore, develop new skills and to share their creativity.

Our topic during the Autumn is ‘Who lives where?’ each week we explore a different text linked to our topic.

Here are some of the texts which we will be exploring:

Farmer Duck, 3 Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, PeePo, Owl Babies.

We will also explore non-fiction texts such as Healthy Eating and Habitats to provide the children with a range of different types of stories: fictional and factual

Please send your child to school every day with the following:

  • Home school communication book
  • Reading book
  • PE Kit
  • Water bottle

During warm weather please ensure your child has sun cream applied and a sun hat.

During cold weather please ensure your child has a thick warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves.

The children will be taking part in PE every Thursday from September, can I kindly ask that on a Thursday all Jewellery is removed from your child, including earrings (this is for health and safety purposes). If earrings cannot be removed for any reason, please provide your child with tape to cover them. PE kits will need to be left in school throughout the week please.

During morning break, your child will be provided with a piece of fruit and a carton of milk free of charge.

If your child is a Little Zebra (Nursery) then please bring 60p as this will cover their morning snack and milk.

School is open to pupils from 08:40am and registration begins at 08:50am. Please ensure your child arrives at school between 08:40 – 08:50 am. A member of staff from school will be available on the gate should you require any assistance. As we are eager to get straight on with our activities, please ensure your child arrives at school on time. Recent evidence states children who regularly arrive late to school often fall behind their peers and this can hinder their progress.

Children will be dismissed at 03:00pm. Parents may wait on the top yard for their children to be dismissed by a member of the school team.

Safeguarding:

Please inform the school office or myself if anyone other than parents/carers known to school will be collecting your child from school. This is to safeguard the children and to stop any confusion and inconvenience at home time when dismissing the children.

Zinko Zebra:

Zinko is our class mascot who may want to spend some time with your children at home. This gives the children the opportunity to share their experience with Zinko with the class. Zinko will be sent home on a Friday and we kindly ask that you return him the following Friday. All information will be provided in Zinko’s diary which will be sent home with him.
