  • The Brockley Way - Our Family Ethos

    Fri 17 Mar 2023 CR

Children and staff at Brockley Primary School are very fortunate to have a supportive and friendly community we call this The Brockley Way which embodies our ethos and approach to relationships.

Our adults and families at home recognise that educating pupils is a process that involves a partnership between us all.

We welcome and encourage our school community to participate fully in the life of our school and we will always act to ensure it remains a safe place to learn and work.

The vast majority of the parents and carers are keen to work with us and are supportive of the school's work - The Brockley Way #bekind.

We expect all members of our school community to behave in a reasonable way but sadly, there are occasions when behaviour by members of our community when visiting the school is considered unacceptable this is why we have a Code of Conduct that you all agree to abide by.

If a parent or carer has concerns we will always listen and seek to address them if it is appropriate. However, staff can not and will not take sides in any disputes outside of school between adults, we will not listen to or act on gossip and we will not accept anyone within our community who behaves in the following manner:

    • Using loud/or offensive language, shouting, swearing, cursing, using profane language, attempting to physically intimidate anyone and/or using aggressive hand gestures or displaying temper.
    • Threatening to harm a member of school staff, visitor, a fellow member of our community or child regardless of whether or not the behaviour constitutes a criminal offence.

Please consider the impact unacceptable behaviour has on the reputation of our school and the damage it can do, we are a small family at Brockley and whilst we may not always agree we must be respectful and in the words of our School Council #bekind!
